Lighting the flames of lifetime fitness, teamwork, and self-mastery.
The Treasure Valley Trail Blazers are a youth mountain biking team competing under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA). Our team brings together student-athletes from schools across the Treasure Valley in southwestern Idaho — including Boise, Nampa, Meridian, Caldwell, Eagle, and Star.
We believe mountain biking builds more than fitness — it builds character. Our program emphasizes inclusive participation, positive culture, personal growth, and love of the outdoors.
Whether you're clipping in for the first time or chasing podiums, you have a place on the Trail Blazers.
Interested in becoming a coach? No MTB experience required — just a desire to mentor youth and have fun on the trails.
We can teach you the rest. Get in touch.

We ride some of the best trails in the Treasure Valley. Here are our primary practice spots.
Meet at the parking lot between the BMX track and the RC track.
Meet at the Hidden Springs Elementary School parking lot - off of N. 5th Ave.
Meet at the Foothills Heritage Park parking lot.
Any student in grades 6–12 attending a school in the Treasure Valley that doesn't have a school team of their own is welcome to join! You don't need prior mountain biking experience — we welcome complete beginners through advanced riders. NICA's philosophy is that every athlete deserves the chance to ride.
Student-athletes need a mountain bike in good working condition with 26" - 29" wheels and a helmet that meets CPSC, Snell Standard "B" or "N" series, ASTM standard F-1447 or CE EN1078 safety standards.
Full-finger gloves and eye protection are recommended.
For the full list of equiprement requirements, refer to the Idaho Interscholastic Cycling League (IICL) guidelines, and feel free to ask a coach! We'd be happy to help!
Outside of equipment costs, the NICA student-athlete registration is $x and the separate team registration is $150. Races also have a separate registration fee of $50/race, or $200 for the full season. Unfortunately we are not able to offer scholarship opportunities at the moment.
Practices are open to all registered athletes. Racing is encouraged but not mandatory, though we would like to see student-athletes compete in at least one race each season.
The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is a nonprofit that creates middle school to high school mountain biking leagues across the United States. NICA focuses on developing strong body, mind, and character in student-athletes through the sport of mountain biking. Learn more at nationalmtb.org.
